Welcome the Stranger is a series of speakers on immigration, being held at Peace Church 7626 Cedar Lake Road, St. Louis Park. This series of events will be held in our church’s fellowship hall (enter from the large parking lot behind the building). Below is a list of dates, times and speakers:
Wednesday, February 13, at 7:00 pm following a free supper at 6:00 pm, we will hear from Sean Walther, who is the demographer of the City of St. Louis Park on the topic of Immigration Trends and Plans in the City of St. Louis Park.
On Sunday, February 17 at 12:00 noon following a light lunch, Margaret Yapp, from Lutheran Social Services, will speak about immigrants and refugees resettled in Minnesota. Margaret has been working in refugee services for the past four years.
On Wednesday, February 27 at 7:00 pm following a free supper at 6:00 pm, we will hear from Leah Jaslow, who is the donor services engagement assistant with the American Refugee Committee. Leah will speak with us about the work ARC does and how it provides opportunities and expertise to refugees, displaced people and their host communities.
