Lent and Holy Week

Ash Cross

February 26, Ash Wednesday
6:00 pm dinner, 7:00 pm service
Ash Wednesday begins the church season of Lent. Lent is the time leading up to, and preparing for, Holy Week and Easter. We will observe Ash Wednesday with our weekly Wednesday night supper at 6:00 pm, and Ash Wednesday Service with imposition of Ashes at 7:00 pm. All are welcome to the supper and the service.

There will be special services during Lent on Wednesdays (after a 6:00 pm Wednesday night soup supper) at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary. Each service, about 30 minutes long, will be based upon a Lenten hymn. All are welcome to come just to the soup supper, just to the worship service, or come to both.

April 5, Palm Sunday
10:30 am service
On April 5th, we will celebrate Palm Sunday with a child-friendly service. Bring your child, grandchild, family friend or neighbor to sing songs, join a palm leaf parade, and do fun activities. At the beginning of the regular worship service children will sit on the floor to learn a song, then pick up some palm branches and parade out of the sanctuary to play in the nursery or do supervised activities in the art and rumpus rooms. Parents are welcome to stay for the service or accompany their child to the activities. Visitors welcome!

April 9, Maundy Thursday
7:00 pm service
Evening Communion with Traditional Palestinian Food
Pita bread, hummus, olives, wine and grape juice will be served at long tables set up in the sanctuary. We remember Christ’s Last Supper that he ate with his disciples at this special Maundy Thursday communion service.

April 12, Easter Sunday
9:00 am breakfast, 10:30 am Easter service
Easter Worship with Trumpet, Song & Lively Preaching
At 9:00 am, a continental breakfast will be served, sponsored by the Deacons.
Drop-in choir at 9:30 am – Come to this open choir rehearsal and sing in the service on the same day. No long-term commitment required.
10:30 am Service – Celebrate the Good News of the Resurrection. Nursery care will be provided. Older children are welcome to participate in the worship service.
