GET INVOLVED AT PEACE PRESBYTERIAN

Education & Outreach

Our education & outreach programs reflect our commitment to spreading God’s love in our community and world. We actively oppose injustices toward any person or group.

Get involved in a church with a social conscience.

Fellowship

We invite you to our weekly Tuesday and Thursday morning conversations on Zoom, as well as our various clubs and activities, some of which are listed below.

To learn more about our fellowship activities, call the church at (952) 555-1234.

Quilting Group

The Peace Presbyterian quilting group meets monthly, usually on a Tuesday morning, from 9AM – Noon. (Call our office or check our church calendar for details.)

Our group started in 1996 with about 20 people. We began by giving our quilts to the homeless and those in need. Since 1996 we have made 4,700 quilts; the record amount made in one day is 8 quilts. We work from September and finish in June. God has been very good to us, and all of our fabric and yarn have been donated to us by several businesses, individual donors and churches. We invite others to join us, whether you sew or not.

Fellowship Dinners

We have a Fellowship dinner at 6 PM on the first Wednesday of every month.  In July and August we have a free Hot Dog Dinner outside on our front lawn.

We provide weekly Fellowship dinners during Advent and Lent with seasonal studies after each meal.

Book Club

The Peace Prez book club is a chance to meet members and enjoy reading and discussing a good book. Books we’ve read include And There He Kept Her by Joshua Moehling, The Downstairs Girl by Stacy Lee, One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serie and Sooley by John Grisham.

Our book club has in-person meetings once a month. Call the church for more details.

Faith in Action

Faith in Action

Mission and outreach are at the heart of Peace Church. Through our faith we are commissioned to care for God’s people. We are committed to serving the community surrounding us with our donations and our time. Our concerns reach worldwide through our missionaries and the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance program.

We participate in many outreach activities within our own walls, our community, locally, regionally, nationally and world-wide. Are you interested in volunteering with one of the many opportunities to serve in the community? Call (952) 545-2586 to find out how you can get involved.

Organizations We Support

STEP, St. Louis Park Emergency Program: STEP is the St. Louis Park community food shelf and social service agency. STEP has been empowering lives and restoring hope in St. Louis Park since 1975. Peace Church was one of the founders of STEP, and we continue to worship closely with them in their mission to identify, address and respond to the critical and emergency needs of residents in St. Louis Park. They directly provide food and clothing to residents in need, as well as advocacy, referrals, and build a collaborative relationship.
Arrive MinistriesThis Christmas we partnered with Arrive Ministries, which provides housing and household items for refugee families. We donated items sufficient to set-up an Afghan family of four. We have also provided transportation and other support for Afghani refugees.
Cameroon and Liberia Outreach: St. Peace Church provides critical support including school supplies, clothing and household items and various equipment for Cameroon and Liberia, guided by our church members originally from those countries.

Adult Education

Our religious studies curriculum reflects our values as a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA). We welcome seekers and members of other denominations & faiths.

Thursday Bible Study

Thursdays at 10:30 AM on Zoom

All are invited to take part in our Bible study and discussion!

Each week we discuss the biblical passage that will serve as the basis for the upcoming Sunday service. Questions, doubts, insights, and hunches are all welcome. Join us on Zoom. We use the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible. Other English translations are available at BibleGateway.com.

The class is led by our pastor Rev. Scott A. Larson. If you are brand new to Bible study, we recommend you do some background reading on the gospel we are studying, such as on Wikipedia. We look into the social context in which the passage was originally written (what was going on politically, economically, and socially?) and investigate the unique perspective of each gospel writer (for example, since Matthew was a Jewish writer writing to a Jewish audience, how does this affect his writing?) as well as talking about what it means for us today.
